Thanks to a partnership between, the Cuban Council of Churches, the Armando Rusindo Mission Foundation, and the United Servants Abroad, conditions are clearly improving. One of the core projects of ARMF, is to purchase and install clean water filtering systems at the Moravian churches across the island. These systems are located at the church, but following the commandment to “love thy neighbor”; they are open to the community as well, thus spreading this gift to all who are in need. The community simply comes by the church during designated times and can fill up their bottles, jugs, pails, or whatever they might have to bring this gift of clean water back to their homes and families.
On Saturday morning Dec 7, the Moravian church in Jaguey Grande, dedicated their clean water system with a community wide service, introduced the system and then fed lunch to all that attended. In the heat of a 90 degree Saturday morning, over 225 people, came by bicycle, horse and carriage, bus, or on foot to celebrate. The people were packed into the pastors garage which doubles as a sanctuary, spilled into the street and across to walls and porches where people could sit and listen and participate in this non denominational service of praise for what God had made available to them. Pastors from the Moravian, Catholic, Methodist, Pentecostal and Presbyterian Churches in Jaguey along with the children from all those churches all participated in the service. The Exec Secretary from the Cuban Council of Churches, Rev Joel Dopeko delivered the message, pointing out that this gift from God, was for everyone, and that God was pleased that all these different faiths in Cuba could worship together in peace with those from the United States to give them the precious gift of clean water.
The Armando Rusindo Mission Foundation is so excited to see one of their core project goals come to reality. ARMF now has this same clean water system installed and operable at the Comenius children’s center in Havana, and the churches in Jaguey Grande, Santayana, and Holguin. We also have plans for additional systems to be installed at our other churches across the island.
God has blessed us all, and because of the work of ARMF and our gracious donor’s we are making a profound difference in the lives of our Cuban brothers and sisters.
GOD IS WORKING IN CUBA
